Mirror’s Youth as Resources members traveled to our state Capital to attend the Kansas Youth Empowerment Conference hosted by Kansas Family Partnership this month. At the conference, YAR board members attended break-out sessions where they gained valuable knowledge about drugs and alcohol, suicide prevention and safe driving. Students also had the opportunity to listen to the Secretary of Transportation, Richard Carlson present about the Kansas department of transportation’s new campaign  “Put the Brakes on Fatalities Day.”  Miss Kansas, Kendall Schoenekase also shared her personal story and encouraged all attendees to not drive while distracted.
