Three Newton area drug prevention leaders were honored Sept. 19, 2018, at the Kansas Prevention Conference in Topeka, Kans. (L-R) Pam Stevens, executive director of the Newton Area Chamber of Commerce, received the Kansas Partner in Prevention Award for her work in moving her community toward forming a drug-free youth coalition. Eli Redington, a youth leader with Mirror’s STAND program, won the Kansas Prevention Youth Leadership Award. Des Martens, Mirror’s director of Prevention Services, received the Kansas Prevention Community Leader Award for her work in leading prevention programs, including spearheading the Harvey County Community Drug-Free Youth Coalition.
